Hi everyone! I have yet another contact lens review for you today. This time they are DollyEye Bling13 Brown Lenses*, sent to me by LensVillage. I've had these since March 2015. I think I still have about five lenses from my expired-but-unreviewed lens stash left. So many, I know _(:3」∠)_ The hardest part of trying to do reviews for expired lenses is looking for high-quality photos that show the lenses clearly – if I can't find any then I'll have to pass on doing the review. I won't sacrifice my eyes by wearing expired lenses! Luckily I took A TON of selfies with this particular lens, so I had a lot of photos to choose from, lol. Anyway. Onto the review!
DollyEye was a brand I'd never heard of before, so I didn't know what to expect. I'm always a bit iffy about trying lenses from unfamiliar brands because you can't tell for sure which ones are from legit contact lens companies or not. Turns out this particular lens model was manufactured by Dueba, only labelled under the DollyEye watermark. Dueba is one of the most well-known Korean contact lens brands around, so that gave me some reassurance that these lenses are safe to use.
COLOR & DESIGN
The color of the lens itself is yellow and not brown, so at first I was scared that they might look weird on me. But because the color isn't opaque, it blends well with my dark brown eyes. If you have dark eyes like me, the color when worn is a nice hazel brown color. The design is very interesting and reminds me a lot of guipure lace. The printed design is black, but because the lens itself is translucent, the design looks more subtle when worn. Subtle, but still very noticeable. I feel like this is the type of lens that can catch a person's attention when you're talking to them.ENLARGEMENT
The site says the diameter is 14.8mm, but it feels like it's 14.5mm. These are enlarging, but just as much as my other lenses. For 14.8mm I was expecting a bigger difference. Still, that's not entirely a bad thing, as these look great at their current size. You can wear these both for everyday (if you're into circle lenses, that is) and for dolly looks.COMFORT
These are okay comfort-wise, but I felt that with these lenses my eyes get dry faster (at around 4-5 hours). I was actually expecting that these would be as comfortable as my Kira Kira Brown lenses (G&G and Dueba are the same), but they aren't.FINAL THOUGHTS
I like these lenses a lot because they fit a lot of different looks. They're great for dolly or LARME-kei looks, but also great for everyday makeup looks. Plus the design is quite unique, so it attracts a lot of attention, hehe. The only downside is that I start to feel these getting dry after just 4-5 hours, which is a lot faster than with my other lenses. My eyes get irritated quite easily so this made it hard to wear these lenses on a daily basis. I can't say the same for other people though, but it's something to keep in mind. You can get these lenses at LensVillage for $19.50. You can also check out LensVillage for other designs – they have over a thousand lens designs in store! They also offer free standard shipping on all orders over $30, so be sure to check them out! :)
