A couple of months ago, I posted a series of photos on my SNS featuring three "summer vacation looks". In reality, it was actually just one makeup look that I made to look like three different ones, using different lip colors and outfits. While I was editing the photos, I realized that two of the three looks actually look quite similar, so I put off writing this for quite a long time, thinking I could do a re-shoot. (I never got around to doing one, because I'm lazy af.) Now that summer in the Philippines is long over (though it still feels like summer 24/7), I wasn't sure whether or not I should still post this, but since summer is just starting in other parts of the world, why not! And so, here are my top three favorite lips for summer!

First is a matte orange-red lip! Some years ago, when I first started wearing lipstick, my very first red lipstick was an orange-red color. (It was NYX Round Lipstick in Eros!) Even now, I still gravitate towards warm tones when choosing red lipstick. Now, I don't usually go for mattes because I can't pull off a full lip with it (which is why I do a gradient lip), but I think a matte orange-red looks really nice for summer. (A true orange shade would look nice too, if you're a bit more adventurous!) And because it's matte, you don't have to touch up as much. I recommend it for a day at the beach! Wearing this with a bright blue or aqua eyeliner would make for a super cute look for summer festivals, too! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
Second, a matte coral lip! Technically, Mischievous is supposed to be a bright light orange, but for some reason it looks kind of peach/coral on my lips, haha. I think coral is a staple lip color for summer. Again, I normally stay away from mattes, but I ended up liking this look a lot. That's probably because it's hard to achieve this coloring with my orange lip tints alone. As much as I have a love-hate relationship with this particular lip product, I found myself wearing this look a lot last summer. Paired with my favorite cat eye look, it feels very otona-ppoi to me ehehe (⺣◡⺣)♡*
And lastly, my personal favorite - the juicy red lip look, aka my signature lip look ♥ I've loved the juicy lip look ever since the start of my love affair with lip tints (2 or 3 years ago?), so I subconsciously wore it all the time, until it eventually became my signature look. I just love how lip tints and lip glosses make my lips look fuller and.. I dunno, very kissable?? Haha! As a friend of mine once put it, "parang ang sarap kagatin!" (♡´艸`)
BONUS: This is a different look altogether (even though my makeup pretty much looks the same all the time LOL), plus I got this lip tint in June, so technically summer was already over when I started using this, but I thought I'd add it here anyway. Hot pink lips! I used TONYMOLY's Kiss Lover Lip Master in #2 Back Hug Pink, swatched on the left. Hot pink just screams "summer!" to me. Maybe because it reminds me of SISTAR's Touch My Body MV (aka one of my favorite summer KPOP songs EVER) - everyone was sporting hot pink lips! (｡♥‿♥｡)
What do you think? I tried my best to make the looks different, even though I didn't change the overall makeup. My point is that you can change your overall look just by switching up your lip colors! For the not-very-adventurous me, summer was a great time to try out bolder lip colors. I also didn't want to focus on the specific lip products too much, instead I wanted to focus on the color! So even if you don't have these particular products, any lip product of your choice in similar colors would do. I wanted to include a bright orange lip too, but I still haven't found an orange lip tint that I like! I feel like I've become so picky after trying out so many things, haha.. _(┐「ε:)_
