A bit late, but happy 2015, everyone! It's been a while since my last post. To be honest I wanted to sit down and blog the moment we got back from KL, but so many things happened afterwards that it took me a while to be able to collect my thoughts properly. Anyway. It's a fresh new year, and I'm very excited! This year I've decided not to make any half-hearted resolutions, and instead I wrote down a list of goals I really (!!!) want to achieve for this year. #2015goals, yes!
1. Take better care of my body. I'm making this number one because I really am sick of getting sick. I catch colds super easily (like I'm some sort of walking target for viruses wtf), and have a ton of other problems (mild tendinitis and what seems to be adult-onset lactose intolerance, among other things) I am now 25 and I (only recently) came to the realization that my body just isn't working as well as it was when I was younger, so I better start taking care of it. Basically: eat healthy food, sleep more than the usual 5 or 6 hours a day (yikes), and get my butt moving and do some exercise (and lose some weight while I'm at it!).
1.5 Take better care of my skin! This deserves its own special little mention. A lot of you are probably already sick of me saying this, but I have really baaad skin. I always get complimented on how nice my skin looks in photos, but that's only because I've got the whole formula for taking good photos of myself (flawless base makeup + nice lighting + Photoshop) down pat. Quite frankly, I'm really tired of having to do all of those things just for one or two decent photos. So this year, I'll work hard to achieve good skin. (Though the last time I had good skin was probably...before the onset of puberty, urk.) Skincare, skincare, skincare!
2. Get a day job, and save money for "adulting" purposes. I don't live by myself, so money has never been that much of a problem (I don't have bills to pay, etc). I've stopped asking for money from my parents for things since two or three years ago, I think. I've been getting by with the little side-projects I have, but it's just not enough. I want to be able to have money for the things I need and want, like traveling and a new camera, so there's that.
3. Travel more! I've always been very interested in visiting other Asian countries, so I'm making this year the year for it. I'm looking at you, Taiwan and Japan! Other Asian countries I'd like to visit this year are Vietnam, Indonesia, and Singapore (in that order). I have some online friends from those countries, and I'd really like to meet them. Malaysia as well, but hopefully I'll be able to go somewhere other than Kuala Lumpur, like Penang! (But we might be coming back to Kuala Lumpur for the annual Comic Fiesta, so Malaysia's definitely already on the list.)
4. Spend less on unnecessary things. Pretty basic, but this is the one goal I set every year but end up not being able to achieve ;____; It's not like I spend a lot, though these are most frequent culprits: food (this includes coffee and milk tea), clothes, makeup. I've already stopped buying too much makeup, since I mostly already know what things I like. Plus, I started focusing on skincare last year, so the only problems are the first two.
5. Take more photos! Another goal I set every year, because I feel like I've been taking less photos than when I first started. This includes doing more photoshoots, yes. I've already planned a few exciting ones, which I will get to doing once I (finally!!) finish all of my 2014 backlog. Also, bring back monthly photodiaries on the blog, because I miss doing them very much.
6. Study + try a lot of new things. There is a looong list of things I want to learn: different languages (Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, French), watercolor painting, playing the bass guitar, driving, cooking (!!!), etc. I'm pretty certain there are a few more things that I can't remember right now, but just this is already quite a lot for me, looking at it now! Hopefully I can learn at least two things from this list by this year.
7. Last but definitely not least, stop hating (or at least, try to be nicer to) myself. No more self-deprecation. I spent a good chunk of 2014 being an emotionally unstable wreck, and at one point it got so bad that I didn't want to leave the house (or my bed, for that matter) anymore. I don't want to have to keep going through that. The only way to do that is for me to love myself more, but that's easier said than done. I'll do my best, anyway.
That's about it, I think! I tried my best to set goals that I know I'll have to keep working towards, even until 2015 ends. Since these are mostly long-term goals, I'll try and set monthly (or bi-monthly?) short-term goals as well, just so I don't lose sight of the things I want to do and achieve. And I realized only know, but it seems like a lot of these goals are all about trying to become a better person. Maybe if I work towards goals #1-6, I'll eventually achieve #7? I guess we'll see!
